Primary research areas
Beer-Sheva Research Triangle
The new R&D center of Israel is quickly developing in Beer-Sheva and BGU is an important part of it. All public and private research facilities, including the SorokaUniversity Medical center and The Advanced Technologies Park, are located within a one mile radius of each other, creating a robust R&D triangle.
Location and Campus Life
Most students will study on the modern and lively Marcus Campus in Beer-Sheva, the capital of the Negev region. A multicultural, metropolitan city with half of the population under the age of 34 and over 20,000 university students, Beer-Sheva is a on the edge of the Negev Desert.
Beer-Sheva is an ideal place for international students to advance their studies and experience Israel. It serves equally well as a jumping off point to explore the rest of country, with convenient transport options making it possible to easily reach all corners of Israel.
The campus in SedeBoqer, with its outstanding research infrastructure, comfortable accommodations, and wonderful location overlooking the spectacular biblical Zin Canyon, guarantees a unique academic environment and an unparalleled learning experience. Students studying at BGU’s campus in Eilat, one of Israel’s premier Red Sea resort towns, focus on areas such as marine biology.
BGU students find affordable and convenient accommodations within walking distance of the campus, either in the student dormitories or in private apartments. With Israeli students as roommates, you’ll have the chance to immediately become friends with local students and be immersed in the “real” Israel.
Vibrant Campus Life
BGU is the top university of choice for Israeli students, many of whom cite the active campus life – along with the excellent academics – as the major draw. Students enjoy the many clubs and activities on campus, as well as the two movie theaters, state-of-the-art sports center, pubs, restaurants, libraries, cafes, and 24-hr computer labs.
Over 6,000 BGU students are actively involved in extensive community outreach programs to strengthen the underprivileged communities surrounding the university and in the region. From mountain climbing to museum-hopping to political engagement, there’s something to suit every interest!
