The Guardian Newspaper recently rated the Department the third best general engineering department in the UK and our teaching is rated “excellent”. Thanks to an exciting project-based approach, with an emphasis on design and innovation, our graduates are highly sought after by industry. In fact, we have an excellent record of students gaining jobs in top engineering companies.

We offer BEng and MEng courses in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering.

Each year our students design and build a racing car for entry to the Formula Student Competition, drawing on their newly developed skills in electronics, computer science and smart mechanical engineering. Thanks to this multidisciplinary approach, our cars, like many of our student projects, have been praised for their advanced and imaginative design.
