Computer Science, Multimedia &
Telecommunications offers a broad
range of study where the emphasis is
on developing practical and applied
skills to service the needs of business
and commerce – most programmes are
professionally accredited by the British
Computer Society. There is an emphasis
towards software design and
development. The department has
developed strong links with industry; undergraduates have opportunities to take a paid year out after their 2nd
year. The department has a wide range
of specialist and continually updated
laboratories to cover the varied
elements of software engineering,
multimedia and telecommunications.
Most staff are research active through
the Infomatics Research Institute
(http://www.iris.salford.ac.uk) and there
are a range of programmes for study at Postgraduate level for taught MSc and by supervised research to PhD.
