PhD in Chemistry

I obtained a degree in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore after which I enrolled in the Honours (Advanced Science) degree in the School of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales in 2005. Studying abroad had always been a dream of mine and it was a chance to step out of my own little world that I had been living in for so long.

Sydney was a great choice for me because it is near home and besides it is one of the most beautiful cities to live in, with a magnificent harbour and beaches as well as having a great option in entertainment, shopping and dining out. I chose chemistry at UNSW because the course is more research based and the projects were interesting. Indeed, my Honours year was one of the most challenging and rewarding years of my student life.

In 2006, I was awarded the University International Postgraduate Award. Now in my third year of a PhD, I am still enjoying my time as a research student at UNSW, where there is a focus on high quality research together with excellent facilities and a friendly supportive environment.
