There are many medical schools where you can earn your MD degree, but at Kigezi it’s not just about earning your degree; it’s about building character, broadening your horizons and cultivating and awareness of global health concerns. Our mission is to produce highly-trained physicians who will provide humanitarian aid through the delivery of healthcare in underserved areas. We are proud that our students share in this mission.
Established in 1996, the founders of Kigezi International School of Medicine had a vision of an international medical school that would provide the highest academic standards, compatible with and comparable to medical schools found in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Uganda. To achieve this, they combined the best ingredients of highly-evolved Western medical education with the unique awareness that only comes from the practical international experience that our three-continent approach affords.
Kigezi provides a unique opportunity to individuals with demonstrated capabilities. Students are eligible for the four-year or five year MD program, depending on their academic background. So, whether you have recently completed your pre-medical courses, or you are interested in pursuing medicine as a career change, Kigezi has a program just for you!
Kigezi undertakes global initiatives to maintain a student body rich in both cultural and academic diversity. Applicants are admitted for September enrolment on a rolling admissions basis. Therefore, students are encouraged to submit application materials at their earliest convenience. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected for an interview within five business days of receipt of their completed application.
